BIKE AND TASTE
This tour combines Apulian nature, art and gastronomy. We will start riding from “Loggia di Pilato“, about 400 mt. above the sea level, where you can admire a wonderful view with the horizon in front of you. After few kilometres we will stop in a farm to taste local cheese just made. Then we will ride again among rapid ups and downs, after visiting the picturesque church of San Michele in Frangesto (XI century), you will dive into the plain of old olive trees to discover fortified farms (masserie) and churches excavated inside the rock with frescoes made in Middle Age. One of them it’s in the Botanical Garden where there are more than two thousands species of plants and flowers. The tour continues visiting a farm specializing in the production of tomatoes and cucumbers grown using natural pollination techniques and biological control against plant pests. Before leaving you will have an aperitif based on bruschetta dressed with cherry tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil. A nice riding that winds through scenic trails from the hill to the coast. Finally a tasting of typical Apulian products in our shop in Monopoli old town, where we will reveal the characteristics of the “yellow gold of Puglia”, the history, the cultivation techniques and the sensorial analysis of the different cultivars.
