Bike oil tour
Price: 70 € per person
Monopoli is a land of thousand-old olive trees. Explore the plain of monumental olive trees riding a bike with an expert local guide. The tour, starting from the Portavecchia seafront, will take you along narrow paths lined with dry-stone walls, to admire some of the oldest olive trees and discover the production techniques of Puglia’s green treasure. A journey through time, passing fortified farmhouses “masseria” and ancient underground olive mills, as well as a veritable olive oil museum and grotto churches with medieval frescoes. A relaxing ride through nature, shaded by centuries-old olive trees, carob trees, almond trees, fig trees, and prickly pear cactuses, will allow you to discover authentic places in this corner of Puglia. At the end of the tour a sensory analysis of different types of extra virgin olive oils, from the multivarietal one obtained by cold-pressing various cultivars, primarily the Cima di Mola from our centuries-old olive trees, to the single-varietal ones: Favolosa, Peranzana, Picholine, Cima di Melfi, and Coratina. Each has its own unique characteristics, making it the perfect pairing for different dishes, adding a touch of class to your table.
